Recently, the offshore platform structure and equipment testing laboratory with domestic leading technology signed a contract with the Sanya Offshore Oil and Gas Research Institute of Northeast Petroleum University to establish a branch office in the Sanya Offshore Oil and Gas Research Institute.Professor Zhou Guoqiang, the chief expert of the laboratory, and his scientific research and technical service team officially entered the laboratory. The entry of this laboratory will greatly improve the capability of serving deep-sea oil and gas of the Sanya Institute of Offshore Oil and Gas,and will play a positive role in accelerating the output and transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City.

It is understood that the offshore platform structure and equipment testing laboratory of Northeast Petroleum University was established in the early 1980s. At the beginning of the construction, scientific research and technical services were mainly carried out on oil derrick testing. In 2010, the oil derrick testing laboratory was approved as a CNPC HSE key experiment. In the same year, it built a laboratory with American BDI Company (Bridge Diagnostics, Inc). In 2009, it began to get involved in the marine field.

Over the past 10 years, the laboratory has continuously improved its scientific research capacity and technical service level in the direction of offshore platform structure and equipment testing. At present, the laboratory has become a leading domesitc research and development and service institution for offshore platform structure and equipment testing technology. In 2021, the laboratory was certified as an inspection and testing institution by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
