On January 25, the Department of Science and Technology of Hainan Province issued a document. The academician workstation of "offshore oil and natural gas exploration and development", which was constructed and declared by Sanya Institute of Offshore Oil and Gas of our university, was approved by experts of the Department of Science and Technology of Hainan Province, reviewed by the Department's Affairs Committee, approved by the Department's Party Leadership Group, and publicized. It was reported to the Talent Work Leading Group of Hainan Provincial Party Committee for approval, and was recognized as the second batch of academician innovation platform of Hainan Province in 2021.

In the past one year, Sanya Offshore Oil and Gas Research Institute has fully implemented the spirit of the first Party Congress of the university, given full play to its location in Hainan Free trade Port, targeted at the national energy strategy and oriented towards the offshore oil and gas exploration and development in the South China Sea. With the support of Hainan Provincial Science and Technology Department, Sanya Yazhouwan Science and Technology City and our university, Sanya Offshore Oil and Gas Research Institute has actively attracted high-level talents and organized advantageous scientific research teams to settle in,signed contracts with masters such as Jia Chengzao and Yang Shufeng, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and built an academician workstation based on them.

It is reported that the approval of the "Offshore Oil and Gas exploration and Development" academician workstation will drive the Sanya Offshore Oil and Gas Research Institute to a higher level of scientific research and talent training in the field of Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration and Development.In the next step, the Academy will organize and equip superior scientific research strength and resources around the scientific research field of academician team, and conduct in-depth research on deep-sea oil and gas structure and resource evaluation in the South China Sea, so as to make positive contributions to the increase of offshore oil and gas storage and production in the South China Sea.

He graduated from the Department of Geology of Xinjiang Institute of Technology in 1975, and obtained a doctor's degree in structural geology and geophysics from Nanjing University in 1987. In 2003, he was elected as an academician of the CAS Member (information quoted from the official website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences).

Yang Shufeng, a structural geologist, is mainly engaged in the research and education of structural geology. He was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in May 1947. He graduated from the Department of Geology of Nanjing University in 1975, and obtained a master's degree and a doctor's degree respectively in 1981 and 1984.
