A few days ago, the Ministry of Education issued the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Announcement of the List of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites in 2021" (Education Department Letter [2022] No. 14). Our school's social work 3 majors including, electronic science and technology, and oil and gas storage and transportation engineering were approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites in 2021, and 5 majors including geology, geochemistry, construction environment and energy application engineering, safety engineering, and engineering management were approved. Provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites in 2021. So far, our school has 27 provincial-level and above first-class undergraduate major construction sites, including 16 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

In the next stage, the school will closely follow the development needs of the country and society, take the construction of first-class majors as the starting point, carry out in-depth professional connotation construction, and strive to build first-class majors into strong teachers, high teaching quality, and good teaching results. We should build dominant majors and brand majors with distinct characteristics and social benefits, give full play to the exemplary and leading role of first-class majors, promote the overall quality of specialty construction, and effectively improve the quality of talent training.

It is reported that since 2019, the Ministry of Education has fully implemented the "Six Excellence and One Top-Notch" plan 2.0, and launched a three-year "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors, which is to promote the construction of new engineering, new medical, new agricultural and new liberal arts. It is an important measure to strengthen first-class undergraduates, build first-class majors, cultivate first-class talents, comprehensively revitalize undergraduate education, improve the ability of colleges and universities to cultivate talents, and realize the connotative development of higher education. The main task is to build about 10,000 national first-class undergraduate majors and about 10,000 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites from 2019 to 2021.
